Default Hello from Laos

Hello everyone.. I'm an Australian working and living in Laos. I've lived here since 2007 but have been coming here since early 2003. I'm working in Laos as a teacher and photojournalist.

Do you find it easy getting in and out of Laos? I`m Canadian and currently traveling Aus but really hoping to do Asia when I finish here. Have you travelled a lot there or do you just go for work?
Regards

Hi Steph,,, Laos is as easy as falling off a log to get into. All you need is a current passport, a couple of passport photos and cash in USD. Fill out the visa application form, hand over your passport and photo.

I travel quite a bit through Laos. A wonderful place to kick back and relax.

Avoid Vang Vieng at all cost. The armpit of Laos, just drunken foreigners behaving badly.

I found Vang Vieng to be very beautiful. You are right about drunken foreigners behaving badly, but those are easily avoided.

It's situated in a beautiful region of mountains with a lovely river running through it. There are many beautiful lakes and waterfalls close-by and if you like rafting or caving, both activities are in good supply there. Unlike most of the Vietnamese caves I visited, all lit up in artificial lights, these ones are expored via headlamp and you get up close and personal with the fauna, none of which you'll see in the toursity, manicured **** elsewhere. Fantastic experience.
