Default vietnam in 4 weeks

Well I'm off to vietnam in 4 weeks. I've never been before so, have been trying to do a bit of research on what to and not to do when I get there. Only going for 9 nights with my 7 year old daughter so, we are just staying in Ho chi Minh City and plan to do some day tours from there. Thinking of the Mekong Delta, The Tunnels and of course lots of shopping. If any readers have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you. I will of course leave some feedback on my return.

Default My suggestions

We didn't do anything too adventurous. Still, I'd suggest the following (in no particular order):
1. Watch a water puppet performance. We went to the one at the History Museum.
2. Eat, eat, and eat, at the hawker stalls in the markets, at the many restaurants... The food is cheap, fresh and tasty.
3. Shop at the many small boutiques in the Dong Khoi area. There is lots to buy, from embroidered bags to pretty dresses.
4. Visit the War Remnants Museum. It's a sobering experience.
5. Do the Mekong Delta tour, for a breather. HCM can be overwhelming.

We went in April. We only had 2 half days in HCMC, up front and at the end.
The first half day we went to war remnants museum (taxi from the Majestic). A must do! Then cyclo to the Reunification Palace - worth going to - then creme caramel and a beer near Notre Dame looking out onto the park. Followed by a little shopping, swim at the hotel, lunch, pack and over to the airport for 4.30 flight to Hanoi.
Our second half was after we arrived at the airport at 2.30 from Hoi An, taxi into Saigon, walking, shopping and a really neat dinner at a "Tapas" bar (french/vietnamese food) and a few glasses each of wine from South Africa, South America, France, New Zealand, Oz, Italy Spain etc (can't remember which we DIDN'T have!). Taxi to airport at 7.00 for flight back to Oz.

Ahhhh, memories! You will love it!
