Default Vietnam Visa Query

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help with a query re a Vietnam visa.

I'm planning on entering Vietnam via Cambodia (not sure which border crossing yet) sometime in May however I don't have a fixed date.

I will get the visa before I leave the UK and what I'm not sure about is the entry date; on the visa application form it asks for date of entry. My query is how fixed is this, if I want to enter after the date or before is that ok?

Does anyone have any recent experience of this?

Thank you!

Thumbs up

Hi,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the forums. Have you considered holding off on getting your Vietnam visa until you arrive in South East Asia? You can easily get a visa processed at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok (that's where I got mine); the same probably holds true for Phnom Penh (but you would have to confirm). Worth looking into rather than committing yourself to a date and having to arrive late - Vietnam is a wonderful country and you need all the time there you can get ;)

cheers
steve

Yesyesyes, as Steve said.

It is very easy to get your Vietnamese visa in Phnom Penh. The advantages are flexibility in arrival date, convenience and price, maybe.

I go through Lucky!Lucky! on Monivong. $40 for a month in VN (or $38 for two weeks if you need to save that two dollars). 1 day turnaround. That part is awesome.

'sheeed

ps I'll actually be getting my visa from there in a couple weeks.

Default You can take Visa on arrival easily

Hi, if you arrival Vietnam by airway, you can take Visa on arrival very easy, cheap & save time. Just about US$ 15-20/person for Visa approval letter (every travel agent do this service for you within 3 days) & US$ 25 / person / 1 month for Visa stamp fee at immigration department.

If you get Visa at Embassy, you don't need enter exactly entry date, but the date shouldn't be after your entry date (before some days is no problem), as long as you will go out of Vietnam before the deadline.

Make sure you take all the paperwork with you on your travels and 2 passport photos. Only valid in main airports. We were there in January this year and apart from a short wait in the airport it was a straightforward procedure. Remember if you venture north Vietnam to take warm clothes, we were in halong bay in January and it was very cold. Great country tho, have fun.
