I want to book a trip to Vietnam for my 50th next July.

Best place to start off for first time vist?

We will be spending around 12- 14 nights before doing a few night in BKK on the way home to Perth.

only need 2 star-3 star accommodation but also want to do at least 3 places.dont mind train travel or bus.

are there any good sites like sawadee.com but for Vietnam?

any info would be apreciated.

I reckon that with 12 - 14 days available, you could see quite a bit of Vietnam for a first visit. It's a fascinating place.

On our first trip we started in Hanoi, went to Halong Bay from there for an overnight - it's world heritage listed and absolutely stunning. From there we made our way south, visiting a number of places on the way and ended up in Saigon and flew back to Bangkok from there.

An idea would be to get some travel brochures from the travel agent and plan an itinerary. You can do most bookings on line.
