What is the least painful way of getting between these two.
Basically we are flying in to hanoi and staying there a couple of days and then we want beach for about a week.
Where should we go? how do we get there?
Intend to do a trip to Halong bay before this.

We are planning our first trip to Vietnam also. We plan on flying from Hanoi to Hue, spending a few days in Hue, then taking a taxi (ar $75USD I believe) to Hoi An. It's meant to be a beautiful drive through the Hai Van Pass.
