Default Tiger Temple ran by Monks

Hi, I have been told that we need to visit the Tiger Temple about 3hrs from Bangkok when we are in Thailand in March. I'm not comforable about catching the publis bus from Bangkok - we dont speak Thai and am worried about getting on the wrong bus and ending up in the middle of now where!!. Are there day trips to this place from Bangkok with a tour company? OR can you hire a driver for the day who could take you there? How much would we expect to pay for both options.

Default Make a stop in Kanchanaburi first

If you are planning to visit the Tiger Temple 45 km outside Kanchanaburi, which by the way is a good idea, why don't you then take a trip also including a visit to the famous historic venues in Kanchanaburi, since you will be passing them anyway. So make sure you'll make a stop in Kanchanaburi at the War Cemetary with 7000 headstones for allied soldiers who died during the building of the bridge and 'Death Railway' for the Japanese in World War II, and a stop at the historic Bridge over the River Kwai before you're heading for the Tiger Temple.

i would definitely reccommend going to kanchanaburi for a couple of days, the day trips are wonderful! you can catch a private bus/taxi to kanchanaburi for about 500thb per person, it is better to book the trips once you are in kanchanaburi, they're cheaper and i feel alot of the locals there are loosing out because of larger companies in Bangkok. Kanchanaburi is beautiful, the waterfalls and the surrounding landscape, tiger temple is great fun, you can see the animals are taken care of and are happy, i read before i went there that the tigers were drugged etc, however i did not think so, the monk who runs tiger temple has a special connection with the animals, it is wonderful, last year when i visited they had two baby tigers, they were so cute and it was amazing being able to play with them. hope you enjoy your trip, thailand is a fantastic place!
