Baan Rim Pa is my favourite. The view is magnificent and they serve amazing food. Price is on a high range cos its a fine dinning Thai but if you need to indulge .. book yourselves a table there for sure !!

Wink Baan rim pa

Totaly agree, beautiful resturant, expensive by thai standards but reasonable compared with Australia. On the headland at north Patong overlooking the beach ,book early and ask for a window table and go in time to watch the sunset ,also has live music.Lamai Hotel on the beach front, southern end also has good food and a realy good group.Sorry to say this, and I know I'll get burnt for saying it ,stay away from the Irish pubs they are expensive and the food is awful.I'd better go hide now.Joy

Your quite right about the Irish pubs being expensive and the food doesn't look anything special... so be sure, to be sure But it's a top night all the same and usually a good crowd.
The manager of Molly Malone's has a habit of 'giving' you a drink even though you've said you didn't want another... at their prices what's a girl to do... but drink it.
Cheers Geri

Thumbs up mmmmmmm

Lotus - Kamala Headland
New Moon - Nai Harn (next to Le Meridien - ignore the other restaurants and their touts)
Friendship Beach - Rawai / Chalong - an absolute must in the evening - a hotel with beachfront restaurant and bar and uninterupted views of the offshore islands that side of Phuket - watch the dinner cruise boat go up and down and then let off its fireworks
Dons - OK, it is not Thai (although he does them), but still (cross land route between Chalong and Nai Harn Beach)
Maggie's Pizza - Rawai Beach (or pop across the road to Niki's beachfront bar with your pizza - ask first - even better)

One of our favourites is Sam's Steakhouse at the Holiday Inn in Patong... not cheap but is wonderfully air conditioned and is very special. We always have dinner there when staying at the Busakorn Wing of the HI. Hmmm!! Roll on October.
Cheers Geri

Reading these opinions, just show, how difficult it is to sugest a restaurant!

Baan rim pa is maybe a nice place to sit, and you will have a beautiful evening, no doubt! the food is farangised, and without being awful, is not of the authentic quality a place like this should have! Touristic, but not great!

There is another one, on the left between Patong and Kamala. Nice views, less fancy, but much better food!

In general, I was very disappointed in Phuket! You can find good food, but not refined, especially when you pay more money!

The gay owned place (I am not btw), The Seahawk in a little soi, south Patong beach (near the Zen), has more refined Thai food. Prices are better then in Baan Rim Paa. it is a lovely little restaurant, but of course, you do not have the atmosphere by the sea!

You have some great seafood (better then on beachroad) In the little restaurants on the parallel road. From corner Bangla, go north, and 100 meter on the left, you can find them! they are also touristic, but there are good one's, like cocaonut. Was a bit less then other years this year, but they are not the only one!

If you want to spend money, and you are in kata, I think the "Boathouse" and Mom's tri kitchen are way better then Baan rim Pa. Honestly, staying in kata, for the food, I go in the main street that connects the beach road, with Patak-road! There are two small local shop/restaurants; with both a mama cooking. One cooks the food right for you when you are waiting! Coming from the beach-road to the left 3/4 of the street!
Just simple, friendly and good. You can eat a whole month there for one visit in a expensive luxury restaurant! And the food will be more authentic and yes, sometimes better!

Ratri Jazz restaurant, was very refined, but with the new cook, realy average now!

New moon, Marc, I have been there because you suggested it! Maybe there is another "moon", or maybe I mistaken with a "sunset", but if we are talking about the same, it is on the left coming from the beach. Very unfriendly and mediocre! But maybe I was not in the right restaurant!

In Rawai, some of the local little restaurants are great! Mama making you fresh shrimps, cheaper then in Patong!

Phuket is not always easy! Many restaurants adapt to Western taste. it is sometimes difficult to find a real good green curry chicken! Most are to sweet, and are turned into a soup instead of a curry!

I had a Thai restaurant in Antwerp, love real Royal Thai cuisine, but enjoy also just well made Thai food!

It has been a while for us, so maybe it has changed. But it is the very last restaurant you come to on the right (the parade of shops) before Le Meridien; the beach being on the left. There are three restaurants all sharing the same pavement dining area; it is the last of these three. We ate there virtually every Sunday when we lived in Phuket.

I am beginning to think this is another restaurant! Maybe the others made a similar name, because the original had a good buzz!
