Default Phuket Hotels

Hi all,

I'm used to Bali where you can just walk up to hotel receptions and get good rates.

Is this the same in Phuket.

I will be heading there approx 14th Jan.

Also, same question for Chaig Mai, will be there approx 11th Jan.

Enpi,
You can get good rates for smaller guesthouse and bungalow accomadation by booking in person, particularly when you are dealing with the owner, but I have always got better rates on the internet for larger hotels. Also, you are going to Phuket in "peak" season so a lot of hotels will be booked out at that time of year. If you are not fussy and you have time on your hands, you will find something, but I would book at least the first few nights.

Enpi,

Now it is high season in Thailand, so many hotels are fully booked, or they will ask high walk in rates. There are many websites who provides hotels for discount prices on the internet, you could try Come to Thailand they have many hotels in Phuket and Chiang Mai, and they have good rates you probably will not get when you walk in.

In Phuket I stayed at Patong in Patong Green Mountain hotel, it is a new hotel with a big swimming pool, but far from the beach. Chiang Mai I stayed at Raming Lodge, a very beautiful hotel with great service in the centre of the city. Both value of your money.

enpi, if you're on a budget i'd go with on on hotel or phuket cyberinn hotel. they're both located in the heart of Phuket town and surrounded by many shops and beautiful old buildings. happy travels!
