Ooh I'm excited! After 4 long years, we've just booked flights from London to BKK on 28 Jan (9 weeks on Monday). This time, my hubbie and I are taking our little boy, who'll be 2 years old. Yay!!!!!!!
Our last trip to Bangkok ended up with me so excited I couldn't sleep on the plane (ok it was also the several glasses of wine I had in the airport first

) Slightly hyperactive, I kept trying to open the shutters on the plane 'to see the sunrise over the world'.
Got to Bangkok, went on La Noya river cruise that night which was fab, then a little wander round Patpong and back to the hotel. Next day was sightseeing and we headed for the Palace only to be stopped by a 'palace official' who told us it was closed, and next thing we know we were in a Tuk Tuk with a little man who took us to lots of shops (yes I know we fell for it big style) and dropped us off at the Palace later absolutely bewiildered. THEN we couldn't get a taxi to turn their flipping meter on to take us back to the hotel.
That night, which was New Years Eve, we had a great time watching the fireworks from the bridge and then drinking Thai whiskey buckets in KoSan Road with a load of ex-pats and a couple of Dutch guys until 7am the following morning (midnight back in Britain you see). I still hadn't slept properly since we left Britiain by this point so was a little confused
Needless to say we missed the next day of sightseeing trying to sleep and caught a train to Chaing Mai that night, and FINALLY I calmed down a bit, and fell asleep for 12 hours. Woke up in Chaing Mai, flew to Mae Hong Son, onto Krabi and Ko Lanta and had a fabulous, fabulous time
So my first post on here is a plea for help with making Bangkok a better experience this time. We've done the river and the temples, but nothing else. I know part of my last experience was lack of sleep and jet lag, but I don't think I planned it properly either. Can anyone help
