Cool Beg to differ

tuk tuks are more expensive than metered cabs; the trouble is the tuk tuk drivers do not allow metered cabs to ply for business in tourist areas so you have to get your hotel to specifically order one to collect you from the hotel grounds. 200 baht milk float styled tuk tuk with motorbike engine, about 40 baht air conditioned, metered, licensed, insured, 1000cc real engined taxi; go figure.

Default Tuk tuks

Hi Mark,

I didn't know that you could order a metered taxi in Phuket. So instead of paying the rip off prices from Kata to Patong, would I be able to get the hotel to order me a taxi with meter ? I have used a metered cab before but only from the airport.

Michelle
