I will going to Phuket in Dec and probably staying in Kata. Where may I ask is a good place for snorkelling on mainland Phuket? Any snorkelling at Kata? Should I go on an island hopping trip for nearby islands? I have been to Phi Phi island before. Thanks

On the headland around Kata Noi there is reasonable snorkelling. Just off Nai Harn is a little better BUT, BUT, BUT there are often really nasty currents and undertows there (I think on average 6 or more people a year lose their lives off this beach - bad swimmers mostly getting in too far and then trying to stand up as their legs get swept away).
