Default Thai Restaurant in Silom area - open late!

Just hoping for some suggestions please!

Our flight lands at 7:40 pm and we are planning to go to Patpong night market that evening and were wondering if anyone had suggestions for somewhere we could go for dinner that was close by, but open late, bearing in mind we probably won't get there until 9:30 pm or later! (Although with some of the horror stories I've heard about the new airport, perhaps that's a very optimistic forecast!)

I don't really want our first taste of Bangkok to be the coffee shop at the Pathumwan Princess - although as we all know, even the most pedestrian hotels tend to have very decent coffee shops that serve wonderful green chicken curries!

Basically we're looking for a good Thai restaurant not too far from Patpong which would be open late.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Default Patpong restaurant

You're going out virtually straight after a long flight from Oz ? ooo...Well you've got more stamina than I have that's for sure ):

The restaurants in Pathumwan Princess are pretty good so no worries about eating at any of those (coffee shop has lovely cakes and snacks too)
But if you want to go to Patpong at that time of night, it would probably be quicker to go by train rather than sit in a taxi going nowhere in the traffic (BTS station adjoins PP)

As far as restaurants being open late - 9.30 isn't late for Bangkok (Patpong is just warming up at that stage) and there are plenty of restaurants in that area.
On the first night of your first visit, it may be best to go to one that's pretty easy to find sooooo....a restaurant called Sphinx might be a good option. It's almost at the end of one of the small sois in Patpong (is it Soi 2 or Soi Patpong??? - someone will know the correct name) Nice decor (looks a bit upmarket but prices are quite low) and has a fairly extensive menu of both Thai and western food. Like almost everywhere else, smart casual is fine.
You can eat inside or out on the small terrace - great for watching all the activity in that 'most interesting' soi which has several nightclubs and bars.

I don't know if you're up for it, but trying out the food on the streets on Bangkok might be worth a shot..if you have a stable stomach..kinda.

I've always thought that street food on Bangkok taste's really good, and if you choose well, you do get a great meal!
