I booked earlier this year at a similar price and we travel on the 28th of this month. This does not include in-flight service or entertainment but includes all applicable taxes. You can pay an extra $30 for food/beverege and $10 for in-flight movie/entertainment gizmo per flight.
It is certainly the best deal I have seen on a direct flight from Melbourne to Bangkok and I will let you know what the flight was like when I return.
I did receive an email last week stating that they had changed our flight and started to panic, but after closer inspection found that all that had happened was we were departing 15 minutes earlier.

shanek
We are booked with Jetstar next March (for Bali) and our flight schedule has changed yet again which is not a major problem.
However, you need to know that after all flight time changes ALL pre allocated seats drop out of the system and you need to ring Jetstar to book them again. (website has been down for a while)
I accidentally found this out a few days ago and noticed on our email the seat numbers were not listed as they had been before... on ringing I found there is already someone in one of our allocated seats bumping us to another row.
You need to act promptly if you get another flight time change.
Cheers Geri

I called Jetstar and they assured me there was no changes in our seat allocations. Maybe there was just a glitch on your booking Geri? I will let you know when I get back whether we had any hassles.

ShaneK Glad your seats are ok but you still need to keep an eye on them as others have reported loosing their seats on another forum.
Jetstar specials come out all the time... last year we were lucky enough to get a wonderful special to Bali ($12 each way plus tax) even met people from Tassie who only paid $1 (we was robbed!! lol) We are going back Easter 08 for a special occasion... I rang Jetstar and I was told they exclude specials during school and public holidays, so we ended up paying just over $1000AUD pp. I still think that is a pretty good, because in 2005 I got a Qantas price of $1400 pp, we did in fact book with Air Paradise but with events of October 2005 happened days before our departure and we didn't go.
One more til we go to Thailand and flying with the wonderful Thai Airways. Given we have flown with Jetstar to Bali and we are both tall... we do prefer the leg room Thai offers us. Flying to Bali I had a tall lady behind me and felt her knees in my back the whole 6 hour flight. I couldn't blame her because she was seated next to a stranger and so couldn't 'straggle' her legs like she would if travelling with a friend or partner.
I love Thai Airways
Cheers Geri

I go with my 11 year old daughter, and we allways go 1 week before school holidays and 1 week after, so she only misses those 2 weeks when not much happens at school, and we get to get away for a month. The specials are good for me, they usually stop the specials about a week before the school hols, but i allways miss out taking too long to check dates etc, this time i was prepared. There are still heaps of seats left to Bangkok Ive noticed, so I guess the influx of the other cheap asian airways who have had their specials allready means we are going to get cheap flights and sales from now on to Thailand, Bali ,Singapore and Kuala Lumpar and on to most other asian destinations. I usually fly Thai or Singapore, havent flown Jetstar, Tiger or Air Asia internationally yet but have flown with some of the worst airlines in the world before, not to mention 24 hour train trips sqaushed and not being able to leave my seat for fear of losing it.
For me this means being able to afford to have 2 trips or more a year instead of the 1.
I can suffer, if I have to, for 9 hours or more with that as a prize.
Bring it on, I say...
