Default advise ex Melbourne

Karin

Some accommodation sugestions for you which are reasonably priced and clean with good air con and a pool

In BKK have a look at the Manhattan hotel =right near the skytrain, has a reasonably sized pool and old, but clean rooms. Good buffet breakfast included in price. Always popular with the Aussies so need to book asap.

In Phuket have a look at Patong Lodge- nice pool, good rooms and air con, good price. Breakfast is good and includedAbout 15-20min walk into tourist area but tuk tuks about 100bt for a full load of people.

In Chiang Mai have a look at the Central Dewangatan hotel. good pool and buffet brekkie and right next to the night market. Fair rates and nice and clean.

Hope this helps

I can't personally recommend anything in that price range but asiatravel has quite a few places that could suit.

I'd have a look at their site (and maybe a couple of others) then go to a site that has reviews - sawadee or hotel-travel - and see what other travellers have to say about the place.

On the old travel site there were quite a few recommendations for guesthouses. There were quite a few at Kanchanaburi but I can't remember the names. If you can get onto that site, just do a search.

Is the old site still able to be read Mark ?

Thanks once again guys. There was a good deal going at Flight Centre at the moment and Best Flights to Phuket with accom. included. Was told that you can stop over in Bangkok, that was included in price but was also told that with Thai Air - a condition of their cheap flights is that you can only travel for a maximum of 35 days. Gonna go in to their web site and read the fine print! Would have been an ideal solution to our Phuket leg of our journey.
Cheers

Karin

Hi Karin
Glad you have caught up with bestflights as I was going to tell you to check them out and use them as a guide. I'm no travel agent but I think the norm is 35 days (ours is 35 days) of course their price don't include taxes.
Cheers Geri

Thai Air fares are about $900 return for late May 2008, I booked last month for mid June on these rates.
Air Asia Bangkok to Phuket $148 for 2 people return. If you want some good hotel rates go to travel agent and get prices for Qantas land package, you pay $25 land only fee if you are not flying with them but if you are going for 2 weeks + there are some terrific rates.

Thanks for that Roy. Booked flights so that is one thing out of the way. Accomodation was next so will definately go into travel agent and get some ideas.
Thanks for the tip

Default Have you thought of Classic Place Hotel

It is in Petchuburi, we stayed there in September and it is very reasonable, if you stay 5 nights you get a Suite Room which has a lounge area as well. It is not close to Sky Train but Petchuburi subway station is just around the corner and one stop away from that is the Sky Train at Sukhumvit.
We found it to be a great hotel, only three floors but with a pool and good brekky.
