Bali Palm Phi Phi to Koh Ngai/Hai?

Hi . Planning a few days in Koh Nagi in December. Is it possible to get a ferry from Phi Phi to Koh ngai. Or Lanta or to you have to travel from Trang? Has anyone been to this island recently. I was there a few years ago and loved it but has it changed??

You can get the ferry from Phi Phi to Lanta and then get a day trip to Ngai. Just explain you want to be dropped off there. When I did it they telephoned ahead and a longtail came and picked us up from the snorkelling boat. It might be possible to do that from Phi Phi as well though most of the daytrip boats I saw from Phi Phi around there were speedboats...private charters maybe.

Yes Ngai is changing (what island in Thailand isn't?). There are a few more resorts there now, upmarket ones of course. It's still very quiet though I think. I haven't been in the area for a year or two either.

It is very nice! But not for a long stay, as there is not much to do.

This was taken from our front beach bungalow:

There were rebuilding a place further down the beach:

Wow it looks quite busy and crowded nowadays. What new resort? Where are they building? When I was first there about 5 years ago there was just the Ko Ngai resort, Ko Hai villa, the Fantasy and the Ko Hai Seafood place on that side of the island and the (closed) Paradise on another beach.

Well busy, is not a concern! It are all intimate places, and you are never in a crowd, if you would call that, meeting 6 or 7 people walking on the beach.

We stayed at the "fantasy", which was fine, I think the best on the island. Further on there were also nice places, but the beach, was not so nice as in front of the fantasy. On the right facing the sea, they were renewing a place, and building on the middle of the beach. Was not much of a concern!
