Default Kanchanaburi

Just wondering is it worth spending a couple of nights in Kanchanaburi to see the Tiger Temple, Hellfire Pass and River Kwai. I have seen a tour where you can have breakfast with the monks and see the tiger cubs. Then thinking we wouldn't need to rush the other 2 things I want to see. Would love some advice from the forumites.

Kanchanaburi Province is a lovely place to visit. It is tranquil compared to the cauldron of Bangkok and the southern islands, Pattaya and even Hua Hin.

It is cheap, pretty and has many interesting things to do.

The Hellfire Pass Memorial is a most moving tour. You cross the Bridge On The River Kwai on the train and travel along the narrow gauge railway to Nam Tok. From there a tour bus will pick you up to take you to Hellfire Pass. The museum is very informative as is the tour down to the bottom of valley.

Also the Commonwealth War Graves in Kanchanaburi are worthy of visit. Another tranquil, reflective spot.

The Erawan Falls are another attraction, perhaps on your second day. There are several falls in the National Park, so take your swimmers as the water is a most refreshing alternative to the humid environment.

As for the Tiger Temple, that is up to you. I suggest you "Google" it before you decide to go. I will make no personal judgements, it is entirely up to you.

Have a good time!
