Hi

They have an email address: chadabangkok@gmail.com

You could try sending them an email and explaining the situation to them in simple English. If they are a hostel in Khao San Rd then someone there will speak/read basic English, as the clientele are almost entirely (young) foreigners.

Also, they also have 2 phone numbers on the website. Try both. Be sure you are dialling the number correctly (I think you have to drop the number in brackets dialling from abroad?) - it could be that you are dialling a wrong number and getting a random Thai person! (I have done this before :|)

Tel:
66 + (2) 629 0211
66 + (84) 434 7950

Good luck!
Steve

I don't normal recommend another forum, but you might post this here: Paknam Web Forums

There are a lot of Thai/English speakers and teachers over there. Maybe one can help translate something.

Contact your son and let him do the leg work. He can ask his present hotel desk clerk to talk to the manager of the hostel in Thai and explain what he wants. He will have to pay for the phone call but the cost is cheap. Did the hostel say they have his items? If the hostel did not contact someone (?) about finding this stuff maybe it was thrown out.

It is a cheaper phone call for your son to call from Chiang Mai than you to call from some foreign country. Part of growing up is solving your own problems. Perhaps the hostel will hold his items until your son returns to Bangkok.
