Hey everyone :)

I'm new to all of this, but I'm heading to South East Asia for approx 3 months in Feb 2012. Was originally going with my boyfriend but am now travelling alone and the thought of it is pretty scary, but exciting too! Was wondering if anyone else is travelling alone around this time??

My rough plans at the mo are to stay in Bangkok for a few days, then head to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Chang Mai before heading down and doing the islands and going to the full moon party in March or April. Then I'm making my way down to Singapore as I'm flying from there to NZ.

Any advice would be welcomed, as well as anyone who will be in those areas around the same time? Would be good to have a travel buddy for at least part of the journey!

Depending on where you're planning on visiting in Cambodia, it may be helpful to have a travel companion there, as some areas are less safe than the other destinations you've mentioned.

Hey if you're nervous about travelling alone, have you thought about doing a tour or two as part of your trip? You can still travel independently but just go off on a few trips to get to know the country, meet other travellers and see sights you might otherwise have missed, plus it's a pretty safe way to explore for the first time.
