Default Thailand for the first time#3

Hello, I was looking at Koonel post in response to Thailand for the first time. So you recommended [url]for booking flights from Chiang Mai to Pucket, however I cannot book a flight one way or one with return in Bangkok. How much should I expect to pay? I see that they charge for each bag, 1 bag=$21. Any input?
I am confused should I go ahead and book the resort or wait to find flights? My itinerary is as following:
1. 7 nights in Bangkok
2. take the train to Chiang Rai (2 days in Chiang Ray)
3. take the train to Chiang Mai (2 days in Chiang Ray including a visit to San Kamphaeng (silk village))
4. take a plain to Pucket (6 days)
5. take a plain back to Bangkok ( 1 ½ days befor the flight back home)
Please help, I’m going nuts with the planning.
I found a good price for Katathani Phuket Beach Resort resort but I need to book it now and I’m not sure at the moment how am I going to get there. Any input is highly appreciated.
Sylvia

Sylvia,
I would book your flights first. Have you tried airasia.com? They are my preferred budget carrier in Thailand. The site you referred to is probably just an agent for airasia.com.

I am not sure when you are going but I plugged in dates two months from now and got about 2000 Baht one way from Chiang Mai to Phuket including taxes (but not including baggage). This is about $66 - seems like a bargain to me! They run off the budget airline model so as more seats are booked on the plane the seat price quoted increases. So book your two flights now (separately), then snap up your accommodation too.

Enjoy the planning - it's half the fun!

If you have a great deal on the Kata Thani, GO AHEAD AND BOOK IT.

It is a fantastic property on one of my favorite Thai beaches. There are plenty of flights, you wont have an issue.

How far ahead are you buying the ticket? Perhaps they haven't fixed their new schedule yet. Never had that happen to me, though.

I never buy an airline's travel insurance; I get a comprehensive policy covering my whole trip before I leave.
