Default drivers from airport

Hi all
I was hoping to find some help with getting transport from airport to hotel in Phuket.
We have booked with Tiger air and they don't do hotel transfers. Can anyone please tell me if it is easy to get transport at airport, or do you need to book through the net. Does anyone know a good driver we can hire and what is the going price for transport. We are staying at the patong merlin.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Bonnieblue,

When you get to Phuket airport go out the doors and turn right and you will see a little taxi type office. You can book your cab through the attendant. You will have to pay an airport tax and the man will give you a ticket to give to the driver with your destination. We went to the Merlin Beach Resort which is a bit further than Patong Merlin and from memory I think that it cost just over $20. That was 10months ago. Ignore all the touts who will be asking you if you want a taxi, you are better off getting an offical one with a meter. You should not have any trouble getting a taxi but if you prefer a private car you can message me and I will give you the name of the people I use. They charge 700B for the trip and are reliable.

Cheers

Michelle

To Patong should be about 400 Baht (including 100 Baht airport charge) by meter taxi, see Michelle's description.
Inside the terminal just before you go outside is the limousine service, to Patong will be 550 Baht, maybe 500.

Default Taxi to Khao Lak

Hello to all from a newbie ,
I've heard that there are some "problems" concerning the Phuket taxi service. Are the above mentioned services ( limousine service, small taxi office outside the airport ) reliable?
And how much would it be for a ride to khao lak?
Thanks for a short answer.

Yes, they are reliable.

To Khao Lak: 2,000 Baht?? I would go for the meter taxi, that will be the cheapest option.
