Default looking for accommodation

Hi
We are looking for accommodation in Thailand for a month starting from the 28th December.
We are open as to where, but I would like a pool does not matter if it is shared and not too far out from eating places etc.
I know that it is a very busy time of year and understand if things are booked up.
Has anyone any knowledge of anywhere?
I am not looking at silly money and as of yet there are only the 2 of us so we don't need masses of bedrooms.
Would like a TV and DVD player.
we probably won't use it for the full month but will pay for a month.
Anyone seen any that you thought looked ok even if you have not stayed in them.
Or can you suggest serviced rooms etc.......anything we are flexible.

Smile Wow J

They are VASTLY different destinations. It really depends on whether you want massive activity and sleaze (Pattaya), fairly laid back tourism hotspot with little shopping but much to so (Samui), safe family destination (Hua Hin with option to shop perhaps in Cha-Am) or still very laid back with little to do but relax Koh Lanta.
