Default Speaking of Cover Ups....

If you, outside of Thailand, haven't caught this news, read up: Porsche Driver at Funeral

After junior hit the girl, he drove 10 kilometers before stopping and leaving the car, WITH THE GIRLS UPPER TORSO IN THE PASSENGER SEAT !!!! Daddy called in and reported the car stolen!

In the real world, junior would be facing a big, manditory sentence for leaving the scene and lying to police, even before the vehicular homicide trial began!

In Thailand, this will all be neatly swept under the carpet.

That's absolutely shocking.
Well there you go - a Lao girl's life is worth $11,000.

The car cost at least $200,000!

The mother "forgives" the murderer. Although she is receiving compensation, I believe that's from her Buddhist nature. I don't think it's from being "bought off".

There is some angry chatter on Lao forums. But, even there, many are rationalizing it. Very doubtful Lao authorities won't get involved.
