Smile newbie to this site

Hi All
I would just like to say hello to all, and introduce myself.
I have always gone to Bali every year and have just returned 2 days ago. We always like to have 2 holidays a year so have just booked Phuket for two weeks in October.
We are flying out of Perth with tiger airways, any info on this airline would be fantastic because I am a bit worried about what to expect being it is so cheap.
We are booked into the Patong Merlin Hotel again first time here so any info would also be great.
I am a member of the Bali Travel Forum and over the years have found this site to be fantastic. I have picked up so many tips as to where to go to shop and eat and site seeing that I probably would of never found out about. This is why now I am hoping I have found a great site for Phuket with the same sort on info from poeople of experience about Phuket.
I dont normally write so much but I really am looking to any reply's
Many thanks in advance
Julie.

to the site. I havn't flown Tiger but look forward to your reports when you get back as we may use them in the future.
How much did you pay for the fights. We have booked Melb- Bkk return for October on a no frills Jetstar deal for about $580 per person.
You will love Phuket and the Merlin in Patong is well located for a first trip. You wont need to catch transport to have a great time sampling the treats of Patong. The hotel has 3 great pools and a very friendly atmosphere. It is certainly not a 4-5 star establishment but it is clean and comfortable and great value for money. I personally prefer Phuket to Bali, though you may find thing a little more expensive as it caters towards the Japanese and Euro markets. There is a greater diversity of great food and culture at your doorstep than you would find in Kuta and, Indian Tailors aside, the vendors are far less pushy. You will be there at a time of year that a lot of Australian sports clubs go on their end of season trips so it can get a little wild on Bangla Rd( the major bar district).
If you want a few more peaceful days, take a tuk tuk to Kata Beach(about 20 mins) and spend the day around the beach in front of the Kata beach hotel ( my idea of paradise but still with plenty of infrastructure to keep you fed and active)
