Hey Carla

I'm also in the same position as you... Have been let down by a few people who said they really wanted to come but when it came down to it they can't afford it or get the time off work etc ...

So i'm going on my own too! i've always dreamed of going backpacking and now I've booked my flights i'm really excited :) Flying from Heathrow on 27th dec, staying 2 nights in bangkok (at lamphu tree house - very nice! £70 for 2 nights) then going to Koh phangan (i am booking first 7 nights - staying in Phangan cottage) then just gonna wing it! Coming home 22nd Jan.

Would be nice to meet up with other people out there so thought i'd reply to your message :)
Lucy

Sorry to intrude,First off...... from what I have gathered from many forum's,Traveling alone turns out to be one of the best ever experiances,so all who are, enjoy!
I will also be going alone for a while until friends ( a couple... ((groan!!))), will be there.
Fly to BKK 20/12/11 rtn 20/01/12... sleeper train, coach, ferry to Phangan (cheap and one more night not paying for foor over head, hint!)for five night's then Samui for another five night's.
Heading Krabi province after then Island hopping to Phuket then ....who know's?
Any taggers along welcome, young hearted 38year old, loves partying and life!!!

I'm going to throw myself into the mix here too. Planning on traveling from London Heathrow on 1st December although that is pretty flexible, I'm booking next week and like many, I am pretty nervous about the whole thing if I'm honest. Similar situation to many of you, I'm 20 and have had a few people bail/not taking it seriously enough so I'm biting the bullet as they say!

I'm thinking about going to Chiang Mai for 60 days and traveling elsewhere on 48 hour trips kind of thing. Basically, I like the idea of having a base for the duration of my stay.

I will be doing the whole Asia tour also, will probably be doing 2 years with a month back in good old England in July next year.

There is a slightly more detailed plan than this but at the moment it is sketchy to say the least, if someone fancies formulating a joint plan then I'd be more than willing.

Happy to cook traditional British Xmas Dinner for anyone who is over there over our festive period.

Email - launchnews "at" gmail.com for anyone that fancies getting in touch.
