2. With it being high season in feb is it better to ready book accomation and to book tours?
3. Would we need to get any needles or anything before coming over?
4. Do u recomend getting travel insurance?
5. Would we need a visa?
We thinking of flying in at Bangkok staying their for 5-6 days then taking the night train to chiange Mai and staying their for 7 days then going back onto the night train to Phuket going around the islands and staying their 12 days then fying out of Phuket back home!
6. What is the must see things to do and see in Bangkok and chiang Mai And Phuket and the islands?
7. And what islands are the most while going to?
8. Where is the best place to go elephant riding, to go see tigers and get photo with and to go see other animals and go see rainforest/ waterfalls and sea caves and scub diving/ snokling?

I'll attempt to answer a few things. You can also visit your local library and check out some travel guides on Thailand. Those travel guides can answer several of your questions. (Wait until you get to Thailand to change any money over to Thai baht for the best exchange rate. Bank money changers available 24 hours at the airport.)

Plan a budget out to see how much you can afford to pay for a hotel room. Then you can ask for hotel suggestions in that price range. Use a baht figure at least Oz dollars. Don't use cheap, middle priced or some description like that. Rooms with air and private toilet and shower will run from around 600 baht to over 6000 baht per night.

February weather is usually pretty good but the weather can vary a little from place to place.

It wouldn't hurt to book the first few nights just to have a place to go to. Cheaper hotels may not have fancy websites. Other than that you may be able to get some places with a simple phone call after you get to Thailand. Unless you want a particular hotel for sure. The tightest time for hotel bookings is right around the Christmas - New Years holidays. By February some of the hotels have more vacancies.

Wait until you get to Thailand to sign up for any tours. They are easy to get in Thailand and they are usually cheaper than booking from another country. Local travel agencies in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket will have a menu selection of popular tours to choose from. Some hotels also have the same tours but they may cost more than what you get on your own from a travel agency. There are many travel agencies for you to choose from in major cities.

With an Australian passport you are eligible to get a free 30 day Visa Exemption stamp in your passport allowing you to enter Thailand.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Thailand

Seat 61 has information on train travel. If you are interested in the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai book the ticket as soon as you get to Bangkok. The sleeper choice sells out quickly. (If you have a hotel in Bangkok that is on the Skytrain route you can use that rail service to connect with the subway. The subway can bring you to the Hualamphong Train Station. )

UrbanRail.Net > Asia > Thailand > Bangkok Metro

You can also use Google to give you ideas on what to see and do. Also a Google check will also give you directions on how to get to different cities.

Phuket : Transportation, How to Get There from Bangkok and Abroad

Train travel in Thailand | Train times & fares from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Ko Samui, Phuket, Nong Kai etc.

Google up "what to see and do in Chiang Mai" or "Where to see elephants in Thailand" for more info.

That's it for now.

Im travelling to Thailand on February 1st, starting in Bangkok for 3 nights. Ive booked a hotel called Le Fenix for 3 nights to get me started, then flying down to Surat Thani and heading to the full moon party via Samui. After that im hitting Koh Tao, Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands

I would recommend agoda also, very cheap rates on there!

Possibly see ya there!

Red face Two weeks in Thailand (Feb)

Hey!
I'm a 19 year old student from UWA, heading to Thailand (Bangkok) for the first two weeks but my friend bailed so I'll be alone! Contact me if you'll be in the same area - I love having a good time, exploring different places and just enjoying the beauty of Asia and would be fantastic it if I knew people also going! to the forum.

We are always happy to help guests to this site, but if you sign up you will most likely receive some extra assistance here. From my own viewpoint, I find it more rewarding spending my time answering questions in depth if the person I am helping is likely to hang around, ask more questions and possibly come back and contribute their own experiences when they return from the trip.

It is also nice to have a name to direct my reponses to.

In answer to your questions.....

1. Feb is an excellent time for weather in most regions of Thailand. Not the hottest time of the year and one of the driest months.

2. It wont be necessary to pre-book anything. However, it may be advisable to book your first few nights in Bangkok and some of your train journeys.

3. Vaccinations are not necessary.

4. Travel Insurance is probably a wise move, but dont buy it from a travel agent. Compare offers on-line.

5. You dont need a Visa for a stay under 30 days if arriving by air.

6. So much to see and do. What are you interested in? History? Culture? Natural Beauty? Shopping?

7. I would definately recommend a few nights on Phi-Phi. The day trip just doesn't do it justice. Railay Beach (not an Island, a penninsular only accessible by boat) in the Krabi district is also worth a few nights.

8. The best Elephant experience that I have had is around Kanchanburi, which would also give you access to the Tiger Temple. I much prefer this area to Chang Mai. It is very different to the other areas that you are visiting and still relatively unspoilt by tourism.

When it comes to medical advice, on such things like vaccinations, all advice is anecdotal.

Tetanus booster should be current and you should have had all your "puppy shots".

Hep A exists and the proper use of Thai toilets, coupled with the refusal of Thai kitchen workers to wash their hands, makes it easily spreadable.

I have acquired a "natural" immunity to Hep B somewhere along the line. Have you? Can you be sure you will not be injured and require blood or injection?

Hi, im going with my boyfriend around xmas/new year's time and
I read that you need vaccinations against Hep A, dengue fever, typhoid and even yellow fever as some places need you to present a certificate that you are covered for yellow fever. So do you still recommend that you do not need vaccinations at all? I will be visiting Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Khao Yai, Chiang Rai, Pai, then the south, Pattaya, Phuket, the islands etc. Do you recommend I should need any vaccination for these areas?

Thanks you :)
