Default Changing Money

Hi all,

Do you get a better rate changing AUD cash or travellers cheques. Also are hotel rates good or should I go to Banks or somewhere else to change money?

Hi Dave
It's been a while since we bothered with travellers cheques and now take cash. There is absolutely problem cashing AUS$$. There are money changing booths all over the place and they are totally honest, receipts given and NO 'slight of hand' tricks that sees your money fall into a draw like they do in Bali
Where did you finally decide on staying?
Cheers Geri

Geri, I presume you mean: NO problem?

You will get a better rate for travellers cheques, but with the extra costs of buying/insurance they still are more expensive in the end. But then again, you do have insurance. ATM's are no problem, as is cash. Just don't change at the hotels but at a bank or exchange booth.

Hi, travellers cheques get you a very slightly higher rate,BUT, they will normally cost you to buy them and then you get charged a fee of about 30 baht i think it is to cash then so my advice would be just take cash. All the booths are run by the various banks, inc in the airport, so are all very trustworthy with a computer printout for you to sign and keep a copy.

Default cheap travellers cheques

If you are an aussie and decide to go with travellers cheques go to Australia Post. they don't charge a commission so you can beat the bank ATM overseas fees.

Hi,

Ended up booking with Asian rooms Jomtien Thani.

Seemed alright, close to the beach and far enough away from central Pattaya.
