Default Koh Lanta

Hiya, I'm heading to phuket in Sept and was going to go to Koh Lanta for 10 days. Has anyone been? If so can you recommend a good hotel for between £20-£30. Any suggestions will do!!
Thanks
Lyndsay

Hi

We stayed at the Royal Lantra- great bungalows, right on the beach although the place is pretty quiet. It was a short ride into the town where there were several good sea food restaurants. This place is in your price range- check out the web site.

Hi
In September you should be able to grab a real bargain. I can highly recommend Pimalai, but don't know if you would be able to get it in your price range. Another good one is Lanta Seahouse which I have stayed at 3 times, and always have a nice time. Make you you make it into Saladan one night and go to Lanta Seafood for a great meal. You will have a great time in Koh Lanta if you are going there to chill out, if you are wanting to party I would go somewhere else as it will be very quite in September.

Royal Lanta was the place that I had in mind, it looks fantastic but for £20 a night I was thinking that it was too good to be true.

Hi Jax

September will be at the end of the rainy season, so you would expect a bit of rain. Pimalai is really a world of its own, it is towards the end of the island, but there are other places you can access via the beach or the road. We ate one night at Same Same but different which was next door. The food was fairly bland though. We never ate lunch as the breakfast at Pimalai was so good that we didn't need lunch, and at around 1pm they came around the pool with fruit. We ate 3 times at Pimalai for dinner and each time it was fab. One night we went into Saladan and ate at the Lanta Seafood. After 5 days at Pimalai we downgraded and stayed at the Lanta Seahouse for another 10 days, which for the price 1000baht was really good.

Hi Lyndsay

Yes the price is very good.

They (Royal Lantra Resort) are running a special until Oct 31 with free nights if you stay for a minimum time. Just bear in mind it will be pretty quiet with a lot of the resorts closed as its the off season- great if you just want to swim in the pool and relax. The beach at this time of the year is not much good and they usually don't clean the beaches , so plently of rubbish being washed up onto the sand.

Because we are travelling off season, you pay for three nights and get the fourth free. This means that we end up only paying £20 a night including breakfast. Couldn't be bad to that!!
