13 May is the biggest water war day in Chiangmai because 13 May is Thai New Year. 14 is family day'

Default All week!

I was there for Songkran this year (2010) and it went on for three or four solid days in Chiang Mai. You will have nooooo problem getting soaked on any day during Songkran. It starts around noon and goes until sunset each day and no-one, I repeat, no-one is exempt :). So if you go outside...be prepared to get soaked! Bring a super-soaker and a plastic waterproof pouch to keep your belongings in. And have fun!!!!!!!!

I was in Chiang Mai for Songkran last year as well and previos posters are right, it is the same for the whole week!! I guess the first day would be the craziest, but you won't even tell the difference :)

Just keep in mind that although it is an amazing experience, you might get sick of it if you stay the whole week. In my opinion, 2-3 days is more than enough but everyone is different. Just be prepared to get soaked with ice cold water everywhere you go and enjoy it!!
