I'll be in Thailand in about 3 weeks (after going to Japan) and can't wait to see this beautiful country. I certainly won't have the attitude of 'my holiday', more an attitude of 'your country, your culture, can I join you?'. I'll have 10 weeks to take in as much of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia as I can. Not a lot in respect of the size of the region but hopefully I'll get enough of an idea that I'll know where to go next time I visit.

I'm afraid you're right. Despite the short shorts worn by Thai girls, the whole society is very conservative & don't take at all to Westerners baring (nearly) all on the beaches & in the towns. Off-the-beaten-track Thailand is still a joy - if you treat those you meet with genuine Respect.
