Question Ideas for Samui please ...

Heading back to Samui in a month. We went for the first time last year in May and had a bit of a disastrous experience … very bad accommodation and although we only stayed in that apartment for one night and moved out, it still sort of clouded our view of the island.

However, on reflection back in Melbourne, we decided we would give Samui another chance, as we really did love the tranquillity of the place.

We have booked into Muang Samui in Chaweng for our August visit. We had quite a few meals here last year and really liked the look and feel of this resort - not too big, and with lovely contemporary Thai décor and located in a good spot.

I am now really planning ahead, and assuming that we really enjoy our trip this year, I’m looking for places to stay for next year.

I would love some advice about any villas or apartments in or not too far from Chaweng. I am travelling with my mother (mid 60’s going on 25 and loads of fun!) and we used to rent a gorgeous villa in Bali and we are looking for something similar in Samui. Ideally after two bedrooms, possibly with a private pool and in a spot that isn’t too isolated/away from the action (but please, not Bophut, as we don’t ever want to go there again!). Budget would be around A$250 per night (we would probably go in low season next year so we get more value for our money).

I’ve looked at the Peninsula Samui on the internet, and this looks quite nice (pool villa), even though it is only has one bedroom, but it seems pretty spacious with a nice living area. I’d welcome any comments about this and any other suggestions.

My plan is to have a look at various options when we are in Samui in August and hopefully find somewhere for our next stay.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Dear Daniele,

Thanks indeed to give a chance for Koh Samui as your vacation again.
For Muang Samui ant Chaweng beach, you are right to booked it. This year in august will not be like your last visited. With its decoration and location will make your holiday smoot and happy. You choosed the right accommodation.

Thank you for your congrats.
If you are looking for somewhere try sawadee and look at what they have ion there and also trip advisor. That way you will get honest reviews.
I still think that the best thing to do would be to have a good scout round when you are there.
I am not sure what you mean by boput as it stretches into Samui it is a very large area. Do you mean fishermans village? where was it that you stayed?
Do you want to be within walking distance of nightlife?
You may even like this one so much that you decide to return you don't know. I love Samui and the magic has caught you by the sound of it.
