In August you will have no problem finding a place by just walking up if you like.

However I find it's better to have a least your 1st night booked so you you have one less worry when you arrive and if you don't like it you can always move.

Oh and just in case your wondering.
If you ask 3 different people about whether it's cheaper to book ahead or front up your probably going to get 3 different answers.

Just a tip ... it's still worth looking on the internet before you book a walk in price.
Some sites (ie wotif) have good last minute prices that could be cheaper than your off the stree price.

Default hotels

You will be able to get a room there esy enough but any time I have gone over I have had them booked coz then I know there paid and I have my budget for food and drink then also I found that most times you will get better deals on the internet then actually in the hotel.
Sawedee is a good site, precision bookings, late rooms and asia rooms were good. Hope this helps.
