no response as of yet - so initial thoughts are - if phuket - allumanda laguna hotel 2 bed suite - have stayed her and is great including breakfast - one room king sized bed one twin room - seperated by a large living room and kitchen space / dining space / leading to a pool with balcony and breathing space - provided you have a car - if not then take the resort bus up to main road DO NOT TAKE TAXIS inside the complex way over the top - at the last stop on the complex buses is a multitude of restaraunts and internet places / cafes etc - but not cheap in that area - all beaches are accessable from here as are all the tourist attractions - BUT I strongly reccommend a hire car - it saves a hell of a lot of money ANYwhere in Phuket over the tuktuk mafia - the beauty of this resort is that even tough its classed 3 star its more like 4 and you are allowed to visit all the 5 star places and beaches from there by the free transport - if you search well enough you should be able to get buy one get one free nights here also - try asiarooms - roomsinthailand - agoda - hotelsinthailand - etc etc - I am sure you know how to surf the net - I got a two bedroom suite at £70 twice BOGOF so £35 per night so 57.75 aus dollars although the cheapest I found tonight was 140 aus dollars which is within the budget - I really hope you enjoy your trip - but need more info if you want more input - - the allumanda is also well placed for beaches food (the black cat for example) supermarkets ie tesco - plus shortish rides to patong - surin - kamala - phuket town - etc etc - good luck

IMHO, the #1 piece of advice, for traveling with small children in Thailand, is to watch them like a hawk.

Thailand doesn't have a concept of "child-proof". There are thousands of dangerous opportunities to be found, just an arm's length away.

Have a look at Cha am / Hua Hin .
We only came back from 3 weeks ago , travelled with grandchildren 5 & 2 they enjoyed it .
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Regent Resort , Cha Am , right on beach and in the evening a short stroll from hotel quite a few eateries and shops .
A few day trips can be arranged , see local taxis not hotel bookings , to see elephants and other animals in local safari park , and on way back drop off to see monkeys .
Local night markets in Hua Hin are a must .
My grandaughters were quite tearfull in leaving and keep asking when they are going back !!!!
P.S there was some concern about buying essentials for the children , no problem 7/11 had nappies etc. and in Hua Hin there is a Tesco store .
The rates for the hotel April-October are brilliant , pay for up to 7 nights get same number of nights free , so 2 interconnecting rooms work out well .
Another advantage is that it is in easy reach of Bangkok , do not have to fly which Iam sure you are aware can be stressfull with small children .
