Default Only 80 days to go!!

Guess I am getting a little bit excited now as we only have another 80 days to wait and then we are off again for over 4 months of fun. We dont come home until October 2nd.

We will start off with 5 nights in Singapore, then off to Phuket. Sometime during June we will drive to Koh Lanta for a few days so my sister can see what its like there.

Other drives will be to Cha Am and surrounding areas, probably take about a week.

Will have to do another drive and stay in Koh Lanta maybe going through to Trang first.

Flying to Phnom Penh for a week to visit friends. Also flying to Udon Thani for a week and driving around the outlaying areas for a look around.

Best part about having the car in Phuket is we take off whenever we want and come back days later, if Gary says lets go for a drive, it means pack a bag!!!

Inbetween this we will do some big Harley trips, well I might do one and Gary can do the huge ones, possibly a Chiang Mai ride. No doubt Nakon Si Thammarat will get a visit again.

Then there will be the normal little getaways, Krabi, Phang Nga, I will need another holiday to get over it all!
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I was just thinking about you this morning, wondering when the countdown would commence.
We had almost booked a trip for June/July until we found out that our 11 year old has a school camp right in the middle of the dates we wanted to go. If I was him I would jump at the chance to go to Phuket instead of Ballarat, but who can understand the mind of a pre-teen?
If we happen to cross paths, I would love to organise a GTG at a Friday night BBQ. At this stage I am thinking of Kata/Koh Lak/AoNang and Lanta after a few days in Bangkok so we may indeed be at the same place during some stage of our trips. We will be driving around as well so our itinery will be flexible.

I am sooooo jealous!!!!
We just got back home from Thailand this past Sunday. We spent all of 4 days in Patong, then 8 days visiting family in Bangkok. Not much time, but better than nothing, and the first real vacation we’ve been able to take in a few years.
We are hoping that sometime in the future we can manage 3 to 4 weeks in Phuket to really get a feel of it. Phuket is changing so rapidly, it’s hard to really get into the groove of things in just 4 days. We were shocked at how expensive it now is. Maybe it was just because it was still high season. And the crowds! I’ve never seen so many people there! My wife (she is Thai) and her family refer to Patong as the “City of Farang”. My wife and her family are rural Thais and very shy. Although my wife has lived in the U.S. for many years, and most of her family is now living on the outskirts of Bangkok, they are still, at heart, rural Thais. When in Patong, her family was wide eyed with amazement as they had never seen so many Farang in one place at the same time!
We will have to wait several years before our next trip (got to pay off this one first!) but we will try and make it over during low season when prices are a bit more reasonable. I’d always hoped to retire in Phuket, but the way prices are rising, we may already be priced out. Oh well. Once I reach retirement we will have plenty of time to look around for a place to settle. I’m sure once we get away from the big tourist areas, prices will be much more reasonable.
Oops...Sorry Cathy, I think I’ve started to highjack your post!
Anyway... Looking forward to hearing about your next trip, and the updates on your website!
