You could try the following.
Go to Rawai beach, hire a longboat to take you to Kho Bon (not to be confused with Koh Bon in the Similan Islands) which is about ten minutes off shore.
The far side of the island is private for Evason hotel customers, the near side has a small beach ok for swimming, a rocky coastline you can walk along for a short distance, a basic (bamboo style) restaurant whose proprietor is a lady from England.
Chill out, eat some food, have a cold beer, go for a swim etc, usually very, very quiet as most people tend to head for Coral Island which is nearby. For the last couple of hours our group were the only people there.
The boatman will pick you up for the return at a pre - arranged time, charged us 500 Baht for the boat hire (4 people in boat). Pay on your return to be fairly sure of being picked up on time.
