Default 3 Weeks in Thailand

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well. I am here to ask for your help and expertise with regards to travelling around Southeast Asia.

Basic Facts & Dates;

1. 4 travellers in total (3 males/1 female)
2. 25-28 years of age
3. 2 out of the 4 will arrive in Bangkok on the 19th of March at 4pm (local time).
4. The other 2 will arrive in Bangkok on the 25th of March at 4pm (local time).
5. We will all be departing from Bangkok on the 8th of April midday.

I am going to be a little awkward and start backwards.

As a group we have decided to meet in Bangkok on the 25th of March and stay here for 2 night (if you have any suggestion on hotels etc... please let me know). Below, i have given you an outline of our possible travel routes.

Sat 27-Mar-2010 Flight to Koh Samui at 7am (arrive 8.30am)
Sun 28-Mar-2010 Koh Samui
Mon 29-Mar-2010 Ferry to Koh Phangnan
Tue 30-Mar-2010 Koh Phangan (FULL MOON PARTY)
Wed 31-Mar-2010 Ferry to Koh Toa
Thurs 01-Apr-2010 Ferry to Koh Samui
Fri 02-Apr-2010 Phuket
Sat 03-Apr-2010 Phuket
Sun 04-Apr-2010 Coach or Train to Koh Phi Phi
Mon 05-Apr-2010 Koh Phi Phi
Tue 06-Apr-2010 Coach or Train to Phuket
Wed 07-Apr-2010 Flight to Bangkok at 15.15
Thurs 08-Apr-2010 Flight to London at midday

Is there any other logical way of working around the various island and seeing the best of the south within the 2 week period, or do you think we have got it covered?

For the 1st week, my friend and I are confused on where and what to go/do. As we are going as a group down south for the 2nd and 3rd week, we are more interested in travelling around the rest (north/east/west/centre) of Thailand or even (if you guys suggest it...) go to either Cambodia/Vietnam/Laos etc...
We want to get exposure to the Thai culture, but at the same time have fun with the possible activities/adventure/excursions/nightlife, that Thailand has to offer.

If anyone needs anymore information with regards to our plans/idea etc... please let me know.

Many thank and look forward to your great advice.

J

Hi All (Part2),

I am a big fan of the sea and I would love to know the best beach/dive sites/snorkelling/water sports etc... that Thailand has to offer.

Thanks again,

J

You have a tight schedule there with not much down time. You are moving really every day.
It will be a boat from phuket to phi phi and back.
Some of these are longish trips and even though flights are short just the getting to the airport and waiting etc can take up half a day.
You could be in danger of trying to see too much and end up not experiencing much at all.

Hi Jaxw17,

Thank for you speedy response.
What would be the best plan in your eyes, considering that the flights to KohSamui and back have already been booked.

Regards,

J

For Phi Phi island visit you may read my JBR "Our Thailand Tour"
What is your budget for Bangkok hotel? We stayed at Montien Riverside Hotel and enjoyed our stay.

You could go to phuket and just do a day tour to phi phi. that way you will get to see it but come back to a base in phuket. There are lots of day trips.
Koh Tao will be the best for diving snorkelling etc.
Good hotel in bangkok mid range is the Bel Aire Princess near to the sky train.

for diving when in Phuket go to Thailand Divers (sunrise) on the main one way sysytem acrss the road from Jung Ceylon shoppoing centre - the guys are great and know the best sites - before the others arrive why not do a day trip or even a couple of days in river kwai country where you can see the obvious - but also the tiger temple - waterfalls - train market - elephant treking - biking - quads etc etc - and or chaing mai / rai great places to visit

jax is right though I think you need to cut down the travelling in the second two weeks maybe stay in phuket longer and do phi phi by boat maybe combine that with the diving

Thanks all for your input. Barring the flights that we have booked, the rest of the travelling/excursions are all flexible, and I will make sure that I tell everyone to take it easy.

Any ideas on what to do in the first week? We would prefer to stay in the north, east or west.

Many thanks.

J
