It seems proof of funds *is* a requirement, even for Aussies. The "real deal" when it comes to visa rules is the IATA information, which is what the airlines will see on their screen. This useful service can be accessed for free right here.

The entry rules for Aussie citizens are here

The relevant part is:

- Visitors over 12 years of age must hold sufficient funds to
cover their stay (at least THB 20,000.- or USD 640.- per
person/family). For details, click here

So I guess as one poster suggested this has always been a requirement, but laxly enforced? Perhaps Thai Airways got stung by a few customers from India not being able to show proof of funds - or Thailand is cracking down on Indian citizens looking to settle in Thailand illegally?

My post was saying that No visa is required from Aussie Citzs if staying less then 30 days if you need to stay longer one would have to get a Visa. Those that are travelling 30 days must have a visa and then would have to show they have the funds...... For the normal tourist without a visa we dont have to prove funds as our stay is less than the 30 days.

Also maybe Mubai India doenst come under the guidelines of being in 1 of the 41 designated coutries... just a thought.
