Hi.

You dont have to fear Koh Samui or Koh Phangan at all. I live on Samui and here we have real calm places as well as places with more of everything. For instance Chaweng have nightlife in a more crazy way as well as chillout on the beach. Here you find families as well as youth.

Koh Phangan is a fantastic island, the fullmoon party is on a beach called Haad Rin and it is well worth a visit. It doesn't mean you have to be completely wasted just because heading over there ;)

Apart from Haad Rin, Koh Phangan has really calm beaches that can suit any family or even honeymooners.

Koh tao is a very small island famous for its clear diving water., This is the divers paradise.

If you want more information I have a big beach guide for Koh Samui that might give you some info. Just click my link in the signature under the post, I don't dare to post any link in the post, maybe someone dislike that I don't know.

Good luck ;)

Hi there Matt. Might i suggest making your own thread instead if hijacking somebody elses? lol :p More people will be likely to see it. This part may be good? Or in this general bit. Whatever works for you.

Anyway good luck and have fun.

I got my diving certification in Koh Samui and it was a great place to do it since the seas are usually calm there. Hope you have a great trip!

Koh Tao i place i think is more better then Koh Phangan. So if you are planning to go then consider that.

Having lived in Thailand for quite a while and having been to the places you discuss, I'll offer the following: Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are not the best places to visit. Someone else suggested the Phi Phi islands and I second that. Koh Tao and Krabi are other places to consider. Some great places to see from there. The islands are very nice but you should consider Bangkok and Chiang Mai as both have many great things to see. You should avoid Koh Phangan just because of the possibility of problems. Same for Phuket and Pattaya. Too many scams going there. Have a great time. You have selected the best time for weather considerations.

Me and my friends are also planning a trip to Thailand some time next year. Loving all the tips and the party stories sounds great fun but also looking forward to the nature experience... :D Has anyone been on the fire jump rope?

Hey everyone,
I thought I would join in on this thread and ask a couple of questions as I will be a first time visitor to Thailand.
I am planning a honeymoon and wanted to know people's thought on the best place to go and recommendations for the best villas to stay in?
We want to go to Phuket and Koh Samui.
Any help will be much appreciated! :)

I can recommend Ban Sabai Sunset for Samui - I didn't stay in one of the pool villas but they looked nice! I wrote a review of the place here.

As for Phuket, Aleenta is a popular honeymooner's location.

Both of these places are pretty steep in price... let us know if you're looking for something more affordable.

cheers
Steve
