Default VISA issues

Hi, got a similar issue, planning to travel for 6 weeks or so, with a visit inbetween at Angkor Wat in Cambodia (though my plane ticket will span six weeks in and out of Bangkok as my hub). Do i need to get a tourist visa in Cambodia and can I?
If not, what is best way to get visa, here in US at Thai embassy?

If you fly in and out of Cambodia, and spend each time less than 4 weeks in advance, you do not need a tourist visa because you are eligible for a visa exempt entry.
