the post Kevin made on the old forum here when he found out he had cancer; almost a year ago to the day. Kevin's bad news. I don't know if others remember his posts before (and even after) that day but he was a good guy to say the least.

I met Kevin in Bangkok in September as a result of that post. He was young, fun and very knowledgeable indeed about Thailand. He seemed fine when I saw him. I last heard from him in November and he sounded fine then too and very optimistic about life in general. I can't say what a shock this news has been to me. My deepest sympathies to his wife and daughter.

| | Hi Fio
I lost my Bali travel partner to cancer, a lady by the name of Susan Gomez. OK, Bali is just an island with tons of tourists and very little undiscovered in comparison with other areas, but you would be surprised. I made it my business to go to every village practically in Bali to check it all out, and Susan would often come along (just buddies); in fact she loaned my now wife a swinsuit once and we still have it. I did not contact her for ages because I was unable to travel to Bali officially / openly any more, then one day I got an email from her sister saying she had lost her fight for cancer. My how quickly that stuff gets you, my how it brings it home to you how you must squeeze every last ounce out of life while you can huh?

Such a young, man so sad.
We must all live by the rule that life is so short and every moment must be lived to the full.

Thanks for your messages.
I know Kevin would have appreciated them. I am going to keep the link to give it to his daughter when she is a little older.
He told me before he died that his dying young wasnt sad for him, but that dying while his daughter was young broke his heart, but that there was no more a purer pain on earth.
He wrote a poem for her that inlcuded the verse:-
My Soul dies jealous,
For you know of a peace I once held, but then sold
You possess an innocence words can never darken,
And warmth of beauty that will never grow cold
