Default Somebody knows Riverside guesthouse or Holanda montri in Chiang Mai?

I am going to Chiang Mai during the Katrong festivities.

All I need is a guesthouse for two nights. Somebody told me about the riverside guesthouse. Now I thought there would be a view on the river, but it doesn't look that way. Rooms look very clean, but a bit cold, not much charm. Does somebody knows this guesthouse?

So I am not sure if I will keep this. I saw the Holanda Montri is on the river itself, maybe a better option? Or does somebody knows a nicer place? I dislike big hotels!

Also if someone could tell me this. During the festivities, what is the best time to be by the river? Is it better wander around, or to sit then by the river in a restaurant, and which one can you recommend then for Thai food?.

Thank you, and I have finally come over from the old forum, wher i was Martin M!

Cool Galare Guest House and River View Lodge

are the ones you want to research / look at. Have a look at Thai Airways Chiang Mai Map

The riverside guesthouse I am talking about is located, next to the Tat.

I have made a reservation, but if it is not too good, then I will maybe change. I booked it, because I thought it would be by the river, but it seems not be the case. It is part of the travelagency.

It seems though that the Thai family owning it is very nice, so I am hesitating if it is worth to change.

I stayed at the Riverview Lodge. Basic rooms, but clean, friendly service, good food (no diner, only breakfast and lunch), nice garden with seats, pool and next to the river.

Can really recommend this place.

Default Hi Steve

Funny, ditto, but I checked out Galare and think it is better

Hi Mark,

I'll check out that one next time I am going to Chiang Mai. Have some other things on my list first though.
