Default Bangkok airport duty free shopping

Can anyone please tell me something about the duty free shops in Bangkok airport? What kind of stuffs are good buys? Is it a good place to look for a digital camera?
Thanks.

There are no bargains at Bangkok Duty Free. You will most likely find cheaper prices on digital cameras and other electronics at MBK or Panthip Plaza. You can also apply for a VAT refund on larger purchases made in Thailand at most of these major complexes.
I generally find that most imported Japanese or Chinese electronics are priced reasonably similar to prices that you can find in Australia so research your local prices first.
The only thing that I buy at Duty Free is a few bottles of Single Malt Whisky, more out of habit than in an effort to make a considerable saving but I generally wait until I am back at Melbourne Airport to do this.

Thanks a lot Shanek. Since we fly to Phuket after arriving in Bangkok I was wondering if we pick up a camera from the duty free shops. Last November while returning from Korea I found good offers for cameras in Hongkong airport.
Is Phuket a good place to look for electronic items?
And yes, just like you I pick up some single malts from Delhi airport before exiting. The variety at Delhi airport is not great but the prices are.

King Power Duty Free is one of the more expensive shopping venues in all of Thailand.

There are certainly plenty of nice things to "look" at.
Have you thought about a Duty Free camera at Delhi airport before you leave?
We now have no "duty" on electronics, just a flat 10% GST and if you make a purchase no more than 30 days prior to departure at any retail outlet and you take these items in your carry on luggage, you can claim a GST refund. You may have a similar system in India.

King Power are terrible. They have a monopoly at the new airport, just as they did at the old Don Muang site and because of that monopolistic situation there is no competition, hence the high prices.

I can buy liquor cheaper here in Melbourne at big discount outlets in the suburbs than I can at Suvarnbhumi airport.

It is a pity that you are not transitting through Singapore as that facility has the best duty free selections and prices in all of South East Asia. (Particularly good for all photographic equipment).

Yes I remember the duty free shops at Singapore airport, very well laid out & good prices although I bought only chocolates. I love those Macademia nuts chocolates which I rarely find in India and also at European airports.
