Default Anyone know how to get from BKK to KHO LAK

Hi, anyone know the best way to get from BKK to Kho Lak,it seems flying into Phuket is the only quickest way.And maybe go back via Hua Hin,so I would go back by road then to BKK.Cheers!

Flying BKK - Phuket is certainly the fastest & easist way. I would be inclined to fly there and maybe return by another method. There are several possibilities for returning to BKK. You could take a bus from Khao Lak to Krabi, have a look around then fly Krabi to BKK. You could also take a bus from Khao Lak to Surat Thani then the train up to BKK. If you have the time and want to see some countryside you could bus Khao Lak - Ranong - Chumporn - Hua Hin - BKK. If you take the VIP buses this would be a cheap & comfortable trip, good seats, AC, toilets on bus, they make a couple of stops for meals. Also by busing back you can stop for a couple of days to make side trips, for example Ranong to Koh Phayam or Chumporn to Koh Tao, or a couple of nights at Hua Hin.

Flying to Phuket and taxi (about 1 hour) from there is quickest and easiest.

Alternatively: bus from Bangkok directly to Khao Lak, or bus/train to Surat Thani and bus to Khao Lak from there (about 5 hours from ST).

"kkkby raod" - I think this means Krabi?

Krabi to HH? By big bus, I'm just guessing here, about 7 hours.

Hi Bob, sorry I was in a mad rush when I wrote that rubbish,I meant how long would it take by road from Koh Koh Khoa or Koh Lak really,to get to Hua Hin.I know it took about 3 hrs from Bangkok to Hua Hin last time we did it.But I have tied my own hands by booking 5 nights on Koh Kho Khoa and the Mrs is insistant on Hua Hin again.Which means I will end up having to get back to Hua Hin from Koh Lak,I think it seems like road transport is best.

There should be a bus from Khao Lak to BKK, I think a Phuket bus runs up there to BKK via Ranong. So that's your best way to HH. That trip should also be around 7-8-9 hours. If possible try for a morning departure so you can check out the scenery and get to HH late afternoon.

I travelled down a couple of weeks ago. I came by train to Surat Thani for 398B, then got a bus (No. 485) from just outside Surat Thani train station which dropped me off in Koh Lak for 160B. Ignore all the hagglers trying to get you in a taxi, the bus stop is to the right as you come out of the train station, across the square under a big billboard. There's a guy there selling tickets.

To get to the train station in Bang Kok, there is a bus from the airport. Go to exit 8 where you can buy a ticket and they'll tell you which bus and where to catch it from. I think is was A4.

Here are some train and bus times, but you'll have to play with the format a bit sorry.
