| | Pattaya Hi, went to Thailand last year and spent most of our time in Phuket and Bangkok with a side trip to Kanchanaburi.
Next year we are looking at going back to Phuket and Bangkok but are thinking of going to Chiang Mai and Pattaya.
Can anyone give me an idea of what Pattaya has to offer and how long to stay there. We are all females between 41 - 45 ( boy that sounds old) , young at heart ( that makes me feel a bit younger) and will be travelling with my 2 boys aged 2 & 7.
We hope to check out the night life without kids so any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

| | One of my favorite bars, for the show, is the Malibu bar. The ladyboy show is great. It's open air so it can get a little hot. The food is good, and the show is great, with no covercharge.
The go-kart track is fun too. |

| | Thanks Koolbreez,
can you give me a rough idea of how long to stay. Don't want to book too long a stay and then be bored, wishing we were somewhere else. |

| | Have you booked your accommodation yet? What part of Pattaya will you be staying in?
We went a couple of years ago and stayed for a month. At that time we had with us 3 children aged from 2, 10 and 11. We had a ball in Pattaya.
At first a bit taken aback with the blatent sex industry. But after a while it was fine and we got used to it. They didn't really bother us as they could see we were a family. We ended up loving our time in Pattaya and in fact are heading back there again for the month of August. This time taking 4 kids ... don't know how that happened
We broke our stay up with a trip to Koh Samet. Turned out to be one of our highlights of our trip. Stayed in a quiet part, hired some bikes and totally chilled by the beautiful sea and soft, white sand. Only about an hour from Pattaya. Then a 10 minute jet boat ride to hotel. Very cheap accommodation. Excellent place
Pattaya has 2 minigolfs, plenty of shopping malls with movies. 10 pin bowling, Wooden Temple with the opportunity of swimming with the dolphins (North Pattaya), there's a couple of touristy things to do ... just check out trip adviser and search "pattaya". A lot of info there.
The Hard Rock does a foam party for kids on a Saturday.
Hope this helps. Hard to say to somone how long to stay for. It all depends on what you want from your holiday. The beaches in Pattaya are terrible (my opinion), but for us who need to escape the heat of the middle east, we enjoy our month there and can fill the time quite easily by swimming in the morning, chilling in the afternoon, and shopping and eating in the evenings. LOVE IT. Not to forget the fantastic massage parlours.
There are a couple of shows like Tiffany's and Al Kazbaan (sp?). I would also recommend you go and have a meal at The Art Cafe in North Pattaya. Lovely place ... they have a website you could check them out more.
Good Luck. |

| | I don't stay in Pattaya more than 3-4 days. There are much better places on beaches for longer stays. Koh Chang is great for a week+. Much better beaches, and friendlier people. |

| | Pattaya Pattaya ...stayed there with my brother and his young family in company holiday house a few years ago.Out of town it was. Nice.
Didn't find the sex industry scene intrusive at all but wasn't there that late at night...girls seemed more interested in the little kids in our party than the blokes.
frankly..beaches I agree are VERY ordinary and I didn't think the water looked too clean..but its nice and handy to the new airport these days I would imagine...those other islands sound nice...! |

| | Jomtien is not as busy for nightlife as pattaya itself, not by any stretch of the imagination, but pattaya is only a 10 baht bus ride away as and when you want it lol.
There is lots of condo accomodation available in jomtien apart from the hotels etc and jomtien is a better beach.
