Hi Jax
If your interested in the Rabbit I would email Deb and ask her for her best price for a month in Dec/Jan... she may (or may not) give you a special deal. You'll never know unless you ask. Deb gave us a better price than on the website.
Deb is American so there are no language difficulties. Hope this helps.
Cheers Geri

I see the minute thumbnail has now transformed itself into a link after all my efforts. is this your idea of a joke? Please DO something to make this place more user friendly for the technically and mentally challenged people who are too old and wrinkly to have done IT in kindergarten and want to post pics to help fellow travelers!

PS. When are you finally going to get round to giving special "edit" privileges to drunk and dyslexic people?

And now it's a thumbnail again! Maybe I should cut down on the snake wine. (Or maybe Mark has a very warped and perverted sense of humour)

I visit Thailand often. Am married to a Thai lady. If you are after a reasonably nice clean and well looked after beach and good hotel, visit Bung Saen Beach -not far from Pattaya. My personal view is if you want seediness grottines and neon, you can get that much closer to home. Pattaya is not the place to see something like the real Thailand.

Husband and I have been to Pattaya and Jomtien several times in the past couple of years.... it's not that far from Bkk and there are nice places where you can avoid the seediness.
In general, North Pattaya, South Pattaya and Jomtien are much better options than Central Pattaya which I find too noisy, busy and full-on. Much better to stay a bit further out and just go in when you feel like it.
Some places I'd recommend.....
At Easter we stayed at Birds and Bees (the hotel belonging to the Cabbages and Condoms people) ....South Pattaya (almost at Jomtien) A very nice place indeed but prices at Christmas probably very steep. It's right on the beach, has beautiful gardens, a restaurant (very casual but food ok.... and cheap) breakfast is ok and very attractive rooms with nice bathrooms (ours had a balcony overlooking the gardens and sea).
Rabbit Resort at Jomtien is nice - a good place to relax, but would be pricy in December.
Woodlands in North Pattaya is nice but not on beach/no view of beach... still a very nice resort with good quality accomm., nice restaurant, good breakfast and fab pools.
If you want to be in the action, Siam Bayshore is right on Walking Street. Room quality varies a lot...we refused the rooms out the back - musty smelling and overlooking a mosquito-ridden pond and opted for the executive rooms at front of hotel overlooking the street. These are the best. Those overlooking the back pool are also ok.

Default Heading to Pattaya for the month of August

We have booked a private condo online. It is on the beach front road in Jomtien. 2 bedroom, swimming pool, nice gardens, small gym and it's costing us 1.000 pounds for the month (it's a lowrise block,I hate those tall tower type condos).

Last time we went we booked a 3 bedroom condo in North Pattaya, beachfront with swimming pool and small recreation room. That was brilliant. Again we booked it online. That cost around 1,000 for the month too.

Both times we have chosen to stay out of central Pattaya. It's just too crazy there and the beach is awful.

I enjoy Pattaya. It's so handy from Bangkok, cheap .. and lots to do. As mentioned before, it's also a good base to go to Koh Samet if you want to chill out on an island.

Jax, I will do a JBR when I come back and tell you more about the apartment. I know it has a 711 at the front and you can get a baht bus on the doorstep in to Central Pattaya easily enough.
