Thanks guys, that info got me on track for a bit of research. Is there different areas of Pattaya. If so where is it best to stay if you want a bit of nightlife, a lot of shopping and fairly central to do most stuff even if it means catching taxi's.

Your help is much appreciated.

I wouldn't myself Jaxw, hotel pool only methinks. Beach is c.r.a.p too but you can do stuff like para-gliding, jet skis and banana boats if you like. It's good for shopping and disneyland experiences (which is my idea of hell on earth but takes all sorts) . Nightlife is quite entertaining and they have some decent music there sometimes. Food is supposed to be good didn't leave any lasting impression on me as I can't for the life of me remember what I ate there.

We are staying in Pattaya in October/November. Our second week we are moving over to the Rabbit Resort in Jomtien... it gets a good wrap on tripadvisor.
Deb the lady who owns Rabbit says there are lots of affordable restaurants within walking distance nearby, also saying the beaches are not pristine. I have to say she has been fabulous to deal with.
PS what exactly is a condo?
Cheers Geri

Condominium is an apartment block not a villa usually without garden but not necessarily.
The Shell holiday compound I stayed in was at Jomtiem I am pretty sure and no one was swimming in the sea, but noone and there was a well used pool ....says it all.To be honest I thought it was all a bit dreary and like even Patong much better...

Default Jomtien

Here is a picture of the more clean Jomtien beach with for you. There's a bigger pic upstairs but I still haven't worked out how to link upstairs pics to a post and the spool manager or whatever it is kept telling me I'd exceeded file size until it was this small.

PS. I just noticed that if you click on the tiny picture it gets bigger so you don't need to bother to go upstairs to look at it. I'll delete the upstairs one now anyway because I want to leave space for food ones and nice beaches and there's a limit to the number of pics you can post here.

Fio I am glad that i did not have to go upstairs. i am knackered and can't be bothered walking up there. LOL
Going off Pattaya.
I looked at the rabbit resort but for when we want to go(xmas) and for how long (month) it would be too costly.
Condo is an Americanisum. I was told that there is a lot of this type of accommodation.
Beach looks scuddy (Thats a Jackieism)
