From where on Phuket are you leaving and around what time?

I'm leaving from ibis Hotel at Patong around 9:30am on 13th April and have already booked a driver, so hopefully it will all be OK!

You should be out of Patong before the real madness starts. After Patong just one real village, so you should be ok. Normally it takes max 1 hour, I would schedule it with a bit more margin though.

Hi everyone,

My partner and I just booked a holiday to Phuket (Patong) from the 13th-22nd of April completely unaware that Songkran would be on at that time!
I'm happy to take part in the festival however I have a few concerns, mainly;
We were hoping to stay on Phi Phi Island from 15th-18th, will the ferry be likely to still run on those dates?

Also are all the local markets/restaurants/bars open or does everything close up the whole time?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, the ferry will run.
On the 13th some things will be closed, but after that everything will be open again.

Thanks for that! I've been reading up on Songkran and it seems like it should be a bit of fun, some sites I've read say that the water throwing only happens for one day in Phuket whereas others suggest it goes for longer, can anyone clarify how long the water throwing goes on in Phuket (Patong) as it sounds like fun but could get tiresome after the first day or two.

Thanks again!
