Talking Chiang Mai

Hi,
haven't been here before and planning to include it next visit. Any recommendations of how long to stay and must do's/see whilst there?

Trying to work out how much time to allocate to each destination so any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Karin

The highlight of my trip there a few years ago was the private 4x4 tour. Got picked up a 7am, spent the day visiting hill tribes, bamboo rafting, elephant ride, lunch relaxing by the river, village markets, then visiting at the end of the day again by the river, back to my hotel at 8pm. Very good day trip for bt2000.

The night market in Chaing Mai is also a must do. The Pandas at the zoo are nice, but it's not a walking around zoo, so you go to see them, without walking around seeing the other animals.

3-4 days there is enough. Longer than that, and you probably will get bored.

Thumbs up Chiang Mai

Hi Karin,

Went to Chiang Mai last year and loved it. Night markets are fantastic, silk and ceramics were beautiful (and very reasonable prices). We did a trip into the highlands, did a fantastic elephant ride, Mae Klang waterfall, and we also went to Doi Inthanon (highest point in Thailand, and we were actually COLD!). People were lovely, food was delicious, and we did a full day's cooking course which was very interesting. If you can, bargain with a driver to take you to most of the places you want to go, and as long as he gets to take you to some of the places where he gets 'stamps' for taking tourists, you should get a good price. Enjoy.

Sylvs
