Default South Thailand in November

Just wondering if someone can help me out? Am trying to put together a budget for a three week trip to South Thailand in November. I don't want to go completely budget - I'd say more mid-range...Does anyone have any suggestions on how much money I should take? There are 2 of us.

Default Be Careful in Southern Thailand

Where do you mean by South Thailand?

Are you aware there are problems and safety issues in some parts of Southern Thailand?

In November , accomodation prices start to rise as the better weather approaches. A quality beachfront property will cost from 3500-5000 baht per room per night ,on, or near to one of the main beaches. If you dont mind being either a little away from the main action or in the thick of things but a few streets away from the beach, you can pick up reasonable standard accomadation for 2000-3000 baht per night. Within these prices, you will get a nice room with reasonable facilities (pools, bars, room service etc) and generally a buffet breakfast for 2.
AS far as spending money go's, you can eat reasonably well with a few beers to wash it down for as little as 500baht per person per day or live like a king/queen for 2000baht. Throw in a daily massage and a little shopping and your spend could be 3000 baht. The pleasures of Thailand are many and generally alot cheaper than prices at home, so I would advise you to be flexible in your budget, go on all the rides and you will definately have a great time.

If you are planning on staying in Phuket, in Patong, the Tourist office is very good, OR just walk about. There are hundreds of places to stay. You'll have a GREAT time. We love it there. Be careful booking off the Internet, better maybe to only book a couple of nights first, then see what the accommodation is like. We had a bad experience 2 years ago, dreadful hotel, could not stay there. We were lucky and moved to another hotel. Have fun we did.

When we went to Phuket for a month, we decided to book 4 different places at different parts of the island.

This may be something you would like to consider.

We stayed in Kata, Central (Patong), Surin and then Laguna.

A great site for researching hotels once you have narrowed them down is Tripadviser dot com. It has personal reviews.

We found that you actually get the better rates if you book online. But look around, as different sites vary.

Since you are there for 4 weeks, why dont' you consider going to Phi Phi island, Koh Lanta and Krabi (Railay, Ao Nang). all are easily accessible from Phuket.

Been to krabi 3 times and I like it for being being more quiet and peaceful from the nice and action of Phuket esp the patong area.

Picture of poda island which is just off AoNang

View of railay beach from the cliffs

In any case enjoy your trip

Beautiful pics but the first one isn't Poda Island, it's Phra Nang beach! Poda is the one in the distance... an hour or two away by canoe (I know cos I paddled there the first time I went to Thailand)
