Question Political situation in Thailand

Hi,

first of all congratulations for the excellent forum; I have read it a lot and found very useful information here.

I will be off to Koh Samui in less than one month; I was wondering how the political situation looks like at the moment. Everything looks fine from abroad, but I must confess I am quite scared about facing problems with unrests like those of last December. Anyone can provide updated info?
Cheers

Have not heard of anything going on at the moment.

I love samui and even if things are happening in Bangkok when you are in places like Samui you never feel them.

Jax is correct, you are well insulated from these political upheavals at places like Samui. At the present moment all is well, the ASEAN meeting in Phuket is going smoothly, there are no signs of any protests; turning the island into a fortress has prevented a repeat of the Pattaya riots.
However, there will eventually be more riots and attempts to overthrow the current government. Thaksin & his red-shirt goons have not given in and gone away. They are just regrouping & replanning their next attempt. It will happen but when, where and what nobody can say.
