Default JBR 3 it's slipping downhill !!!!

Well another day. One up the road wanted to keep our passport for the car and I said no. hired it through the amari and it was 1500 a day for a vitara jeep. Bigger than we usually have to fit 4 of us and as we were sharing the cost it worked out very reasonable.

Packed some water, sun cream and swimwear underneath so ready for all eventualities. We set off through lamai and out towards nathon. I love driving round Samui looking at everyday life. I love the Palm trees and the green and the whole feel of it.

We stopped at Nathon for a coffee and I went to the loo they were squat ones. What with the swimwear, shorts and my lack of balance what can I tell you my aim was not very good. I was going to smell like the queue for pensions in the post office !!!!!!!!!!!!

After a complete mix up with the drinks as to sugar no sugar we set off again. We drove around some more and went to Lipa noi beach. This is a lovely deserted spot. Called in at the pearl thing and generally mooched about. We had something to eat somewhere on the road a little place where suze did her pad Thai testing.

Back to the hotel and by this time it was raining and we went in the pool to cool off.

In the evening we went to fisherman’s village to starfish and coffee. We asked for a seat at the front even though there was a threat of rain. It is a bit dark in there. Got bit by mozzies who seemed to have a field day.
Walked further along and had a drink. Went back to hotel I was not feeling too good.

Dave’s birthday. He opened his cards from home and I had already given him his present. I asked if he would like anything special….one of the bar girls ?? save me a job. But he declined.

We set off in the other direction calling at makro and purchased a box of Australian Cab Sav. It was about 1200 bt a bargain for wine in Thailand. We then went on to show suze were we were moving to after the Amari it was the secret garden ban rak. We then went to big Buddha where I had my fortune told. He told me not to get anything green my bad luck day was Wednesday and to Daves delight told me to keep my mouth shut as I was losing all my energy through it !!!!!!!!!!!!
He also told me that according to Buddhist teachings my sons were my grandparents in a previous life! Now those that know me better know that before we went away our eldest son was sectioned he has severe mental health problems. You have to see the funny side if I went to see him and told him he was my grandparent they would have me sectioned !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We then went to chong mon beach to sun bathe. Yes you read that right sunbathe. It stayed nice all day. Overcast but I don’t mind that.

We went back and had decided that night to go to Zico’s for Dave’s birthday. We all got ready and made a bit more of an effort and Dave had said that he would take the car down and then bring it back after so he could have some drinks.

We drove down and turned down near zicos to park. Without warning the heavens opened and it poured down and I mean poured so much for making more of an effort!! We sat in the car waiting for it to subside and it didn’t. Dave drove the car round the front so we 3 could get out at the front. Bless him.
Zicos for those who have not been is a Brazilian place where they serve as much bbq meat, fish etc as you want off giant skewers that they roam the tables with. The setting is nice and they have a good salad bar and choice of potatoes. No good for vegetarians.
We had a nice bottle of wine and the bill for us 2 was around 2,900 bt the basic meal is 750 bt each.

The idea had been for Dave to take the car back and to have a few drinks. I felt really rough and decided to go back to the room. Dave sat watching a DVD whilst I got into be a slept at 9.30. There was a suspicious amount of wine missing from the box the morning after. I had been up on and off all night coughing and sweating. My head was banging and I dosed up on paras. The morning after I felt weak and fuzzy. We managed to spend some time on the beach and walked down to OP bungalows on the bend on the beach. Great spot this for people watching. Large chang are 60 bt and the food is good and for nothing.
We had arranged to go out separately that night with the girls having dinner together and me and Dave dining somewhere.
We had a few beers and then went back to the room for a lie down.
We got ready and then set off down the road. We had some photos done and a couple of drinks walking down. We got to that snitzel house and decided to go in there we had been there every other time we had been to Samui. I had a fillet steak and Dave had the famous kebab.

After we walked up the road back to the amari. I dipped in a few handbag shops on the way I suggested getting a tuk as I felt awful but Dave kept saying it’s not far. We went into Henry Africans and then made our way back.
Another terrible night coughing and sweating. My ribs were starting to hurt and it was sore to breathe.

Next day I shuffled to breakfast. There was no respite laying down as it made me cough. Spent most of the day on the beach until about 2.30 when it started lashing down. Went back to room. At 7.30 it was still raining very heavily. We decided to venture down the road the road was like a river and the water must have been 5 inches deep. The first eating place we came to was an Italian place across from the IIayas centre and just before will wait. Dave checked WW but they were a queue so we went to the Italian. Big mistake worse meal of the holiday.
After we left we went across the road to the IIayas center. There as a Clarks shop and I saw some shoes that I liked I asked for my size a 7 and you would have thought that I had asked for something really outrageous. She tried to persuade me that a 5 would fit.
Went back to room and to bed. Dave poor sod sat and drank the wine and watched yet another DVD. Bad night again.

I felt really poorly. Went for brekkie had not appetite, never been known. Had half a piece of toast. Went down to beach and sat under shade felt spaced out and weak. Was almost glad when it rained so I could go back to room.
Got into bed and slept fitfully. Was shaking and shivering yet burning up. Dave went and got suze who came to see me. He went to get a doctor. The doctor told him that I needed to go to hospital so the hotel rang for an ambulance. Getting from the room to reception was a performance even though they sent a golf buggy. I could only move slowly.

At the hospital my temp was 39.2 they x-rayed me and said that I had infection on my lung. I had already started taking anti biotics that I had brought for home and they said that these were the right ones. They gave me some other medication and a nebuliser and then told me I could go and if I was no better in 3 days to come back. This was the samui international hospital in chewing. The radiologist ran us back to the hotel!!!

Back in the room we ordered room service. I did not want anything but with being insulin dependant I have to eat. So I ordered some soup. I ate about half – it stayed down about an hour. Poor Dave settled himself in again for a night in front of the telly.
Horrible night.
Up in the morning for a non breakfast. Headed at a snails pace for the beach and under the shade. Really spaced out.
That night got a tuk to the islander I could not walk even that far and had cottage pie. Ate about a third. Back to room. Dave said afterwards that even though the amari is a beautiful hotel he was starting to hate that room.

We were about to move up to the Secret garden. It took me ages to pack and I kept sitting down and sweating. We were picked up and it was a horrible time I felt so ill. We got there and after about an hour a massive storm started and I mean massive with lashings of rain and thunder and lightening. By this time I was so miserable I sat on the bed and cried and said to Dave that I wanted to go home. My breathing had become so bad that I had gone into the pharmacy and bought an asthma inhaler .

Had one of the worst nights of my life. The beaver bar….yes that’s the name. Was banging out till 4 am not that I slept anyway. I sat on the end of the bed will pools of sweat round me. It hurt like hell everytime I breathed in out out. I was coughing up blood and quite frankly scared sh==less.
How was I getting home from Thailand in business class or in a box in the hold ?

At 6 I went to the 7/11 for coffee. I felt really sorry for myself. To top it all Cathryn was going back to Australia today and I knew that she would be upset but so would suze, ‘cos in the very least it would be 6 months before she saw her again.

Oh dear !!!!!!
